Month 2

Grace was a great napper during the day and slept terribly at night, but it made for some cute pictures!
She has the cutest little birth mark on her forehead that is almost faded now, but totally noticeable in these pictures.
I pulled out these polka dot pants the other day. They look like they were made for a doll, not Grace! She is so cute!
David said he is so glad that I caught this moment on film. In his words "every parent needs an embarrassing picture of their kid for the future." I'm not sure what he has planned for this picture, but I am sure that it is going to be funny.
She was trying so hard to stay awake, but her eyes failed
 her.
The Scotts game down and visited us for a little while. Grace was not left without attention!

Nana Scott loves the smell of new baby poop. I will never understand!

Grace was blessed when she was about 6 weeks old.
To this day she will still take off any headbands. I haven't cut her hair yet so we have to use clips to keep the hair out of her eyes.
Grace was getting upset because we wouldn't stop taking pictures. This picture explains PERFECTLY how much attention she gets. The second she starts crying someone comes to the rescue. Maybe I should start crying more often...
Words cannot express how much I love this picture. Daddy giving Grace kisses, Grace's cheeks, and all the love going on!
And once again we have a picture of Grace NOT smiling!

We spent Grace's first Christmas at my parent's house.

Jensen had a missionary reunion party at our house just before Christmas. Someones dad was a professional Santa Claus so they talked him into coming as well!
I just HAD to have a picture of Grace with Santa. Doesn't she look so cute in her leopard dress?
Grace's first Christmas was wonderful. She woke up around 7:30, just after the present opening at 7.
I sure do miss this kid!

My parents are the best. I love them so much! They were wonderful to let us stay with them for so long while we were in the house purchasing process.

I had to throw this picture into the mix. David still has it!

Her first month of life:

Grace has the funniest faces. In this particular picture it also looks like she has a mullet. Her hair was usually crazy, so we let it do what it wanted to.
She has some pretty bad jaundice and was ordered to spend quite a bit of time on this little light bed. She looked like a little glow worm!

 Stink Eye: Check

Her first bath was so cute. She slept through the whole thing, except a yawn when we undressed her.

Grandma Hayter and Grace instantly had a super cute relationship. She loved being held by Grandma! She looks pretty upset in this picture, but I assure that wasn't usually the case...
Man, I was tired! Tired and happy.
Daddy and Grace taking a little snooze. I will never understand why I decided to stay up and take this picture instead of snoozing with them... But I do love this picture!
 Another cute GraceFace!

We lived with my parents for a while and let me say, I loved it. My mom and dad got to hold Grace everyday. Also, a few nights when I was eeeextra tired, my dad took Grace for a few hours while I slept. She wouldn't take bottles so they were shorter nights, but I am FOREVER grateful!

From the beginning:

So I realized that I stopped blogging right around the middle of my pregnancy. Here is a quick catch up:
Pregnancy wasn't that great. I puked the whole nine months, didn't ever feel too great, and was on an IV for quite a while. Labor on the other hand was fantastic! I went in for a weekly check-up and was told I needed to go right to the hospital because I was dilated to six cm. I was in labor and didn't even know it! I got to the hospital and started freaking out because nobody was answering their phones. My parents were at the temple and David wasn't answering my calls. I checked myself in, headed upstairs, and just waited for someone to call me back. I called David (for the 11th time) and got a busy signal. He sent me an auto text that said "I'm busy" or something like that, to which I responded "IM IN LABOR! YOU ARE NOT TOO BUSY TO TALK TO ME RIGHT NOW!" He dismissed the text and didn't read it for a while. (In his defense, he was on the phone with our Realtor trying to close a house we had an offer on) Finally people started showing up and I wasn't so alone. The contractions weren't that bad so when they asked me if I wanted an epidural I wasn't quite sure... I thought to myself "this kind of hurts, I could probably do it. NAH! Why go through pain?" I got an epidural, they broke my water, I pushed for 50 minutes, and Grace was here! At 7:59 pm Grace was born at 7 lbs and 2 oz, 19 inches long, and lots of cute hair!
Here are all the aunts and uncles on the Scott side giving baby Grace some love.

Unfortunately Grandpa Scott was wielding the camera and didn't get a picture with our camera.

Luckily, the Scott's were heading down for Thanksgiving. Grace came just in time for everyone to come visit!

Washington Trip

A couple weeks ago I was able to go to Washington, thanks to my AMAZING in-laws and LOVELY parents! What was the occasion? My dad graduated from the police academy in Washington. Now that he is a cop I am going to start speeding every time I go to visit. OK, I won't really, but wouldn't that be fun? Grace and I took our first plane trip together (SANS HUSBAND!). It was an adventure to say the least, but we really appreciated the shortened traveling time.
Here are some pictures from the trip:
Isn't my daddy handsome?
We went to the uniform inspection and flag ceremony that morning. It is super intense stuff, but a lot of fun to watch!
Once the student graduates, they get to ring this bell.
In the wise words of Nacho Libre "big hug, little kiss, big kiss, big hug, little kiss."
I never know how to explain Dallin and Mason's pictures. They are always so goofy! All I can say is, "Good kid."

This is Grace looking unimpressed. Again. She really does smile, I promise!
 Dallin looking devilishly handsome.
It is raining (green, stuffed) men, hallelujah! They turn the auditorium into a training center everyday. These crazy guys are just hanging from the ceiling, ready to pounce on you.
What a creep.... Just kidding. In case you couldn't tell, this isn't a real man. They would beat these dummies up during training.
I sure do love my dad. I had an amazing time seeing my family and I am so proud of him.

We have some catching up to do...

It has been a very long time since I last posted on this blog. A LONG time. I have decided to catch up, moving backwards.
Grace is now 11 months old. Can you believe it? She has a ton of spit and vinegar that makes for an interesting day, everyday.
A week ago we had Uncle Jensen over to paint pumpkins. Awesome Jensen bought her some washable paints to decorate her pumpkin. Lets just say that those paints aren't so washable. Next time we use them Grace will be in the buff.
Don't they look so cute!?
Grace rarely smiles for the camera. It takes a lot to make her smile in front of technology.
She absolutely loves music. David will get out the guitar and she will crawl right up to him and "help" him play.
This picture is pretty close to bedtime. As you can see, her eyes are pretty tired!
Everyday her hair looks longer to me. Most people don't believe she isn't quite a year old. Aunt Alesha came over a couple days ago and put her hair in the cutest pony tails. I will have to post some of those pictures too!
So here are some updates on our cute little family:

  1. Grace's Birthday is in less than a month!
  2. She absolutely LOVES watching The Lorax. I think it is all the music and colors that do it for her.
  3. David is still working at Academy Mortgage and is liking it there.
  4. I have been unpacking for 6 months. Who ever said there was a time limit on unpacking anyway?
  5. My dad just graduated from the Police Academy and is an official cop. GO DAD!

Congrats to David!

A big shout out to David for graduating BYU-I last week! I am so proud of him.

After graduation we called a ton of restaurants to see who would be open past 10. We had 2 options: Red Robin and Buffalo Wild Wings.
So, here we are eating some burgers at Red Robin!

My mom, dad, and 2 little brothers came for the celebrations. Davids family is just missing Alesha. Even though we missed the absent siblings, we still had an awesome time the next day by having a BBQ at the park for more graduation festivities.

We have some big news, for those of you who didn't already know...
First, our little baby is going to be a GIRL! We are so excited...and I mean THRILLED! She kicks like crazy and doesn't like to hold still. We were at the ultrasound appointment for a long time trying to get pictures of her but she was super squirmy. I will have to post ultrasound pics later because the scanner is being packed. The second awesome announcement is that we are moving to Utah. David said he would never do it...but here we are. We are happy to be moving somewhere that is so close to family, which hasn't been the case since we have been married. David got a job in Sandy at a mortgage company and we move next week. Hurray! There are so many changes in the near future for us but we have never been happier.
